The Lord, Your Protector
Need a blessing from our Lord? Oh, go to him, live for him and love him, and serve him, for he is the Blessed One and the Blessing One. The Lord bestows to his children his goodness on the basis of who he is, he is the Father of the family of faith: “Blessed BE God, even the Father …” (2 Corinthians 1:3). Then, the Lord because of who he is, shares that blessedness with his family as he is fulfilling his role as our Father “who hath blessed us with ALL spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). Yes, spiritual blessings, but he doesn’t stop there, there’s more: “Blessed be the Lord” (who he is), “who daily loadeth us down with benefits” (what he does, Psalm 68:19). Then, he even doesn’t stop there; here’s an added blessing: that which he bestows in his bountiful graciousness, he also makes provision for you to enjoy the blessing without losing it. What he gives in blessing to the one walking with him in faith, he protects; he is the Lord, your Protector; his name is ELOHIM SHOMRI. Yes, he is your Elohim, the strong, supreme One, your God expressing himself to his children evidencing his Almighty name in power. Now, let’s compound his mighty name with HIM being your Shomri, your Protector, referring to him being our fortress, our hiding place, our keeper, our refuge, our shade, our shelter, our stronghold and our shield.
We all have heard the expression, “I’ve worked so hard for what I now have, I certainly don’t want to lose it all; I want all the insurance possible!” Well, think of your blessings (spiritual and material) bestowed to you on the basis of the Lord bringing you into the family of God, and realizing that it took HIS redemptive WORK on the cross for your family placement, in order for you to receive his blessings. And here’s the ASSURANCE that Elohim Shomri gives to you: what the Lord has done and is doing in your life; HE PROTECTS what he blesses. Let’s back that up with Scripture, shall we: “The LORD will bless the righteous, with favor thou wilt compass him as with a shield” (Psalm 5:12). So, there it is, a shield to protect the blessing. Remember Abraham and his walk of faith? God told him “I am thy shield and thy exceeding great reward” (Genesis 15:1). We find him later on in Scripture with his faith rewarded, as he was “well stricken in age; and the LORD hath blessed Abraham in all things” (Genesis 24:1). Also, NOW REMEMBER your walk of faith: “Look to yourselves that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward” (2 John v. 8). You see, dear child of God, when we possess and practice Abrahamic, Biblical faith, God will bless: “No good thing will he withhold from them that walketh uprightly” (Psalm 84:11). Then, do you want some protection for those good things bestowed? That same verse tells us, “The LORD God is a sun and a SHIELD” - so what he blesses, he protects as you walk under the obedient faith banner of your Elohim Shomri. Make today the day that you meet up with your BLESSED PROTECTOR: “He will bless them that fear the Lord” (Psalm 115:13) “that walketh in his ways” (Psalm 128:1).
