Hosting the Lord of Hosts
Many are the names of our Lord, and there is a special significance given to each name. Each name defines who the Lord is in his wondrous relationship with his own. He is EL Shaddai, the Lord Provider, our El Elyon, the Most High God, Jehovah Nissi, who is our banner, Jehovah Raah, the Lord who is our Shepherd, Jehovah Rapha, as the Lord who heals. Then, together with all that HE IS in every name, he gives us HIS constant reminder of being Jehovah Shamma, the Lord who is there with us always. As we live for the ONE who is ALL IN ALL regarding all these names being all in ONE, the Word reminds us of the ONE who gave us life, who brought us to the family, being born-again of his Spirit. He now is bearing the repentant believer along with the power of his mighty presence, giving us strength as the LORD SABAOTH, the Lord of Hosts. The LORD SABAOTH is the Lord of the hosts of heaven, exercising power over all with superior strength for every conflict, every need, and every challenge past, present and future. Our Lord Sabaoth is the one giving strength as we “fight the good fight of faith (by) laying hold on eternal life” (I Timothy 6:12). He is our LIFE ETERNAL, and we will lay hold on HIM, the LORD OF HOSTS.
With the title of the Lord of Hosts associated now with your name, rest assured that whatever are the needs, the challenges, the predicaments, or the troubles you are facing, remember this: “The battle is the LORD’S (I Samuel 17:47). He is the Mighty One worthy of your hope as you rest on the Sovereignty of the Lord of Hosts pertaining to his providential care for his own. As the Lord has invited you to HIMSELF in salvation, now be a host to the Lord of Hosts alive in you, and exercise his power and strength in living for HIM. Host HIM in that inner chamber of heart as did Daniel, as the Lord of Hosts closed the mouth of lions. Host HIM as he parted the Red Sea for Moses, and shows you a promising land before you. Remember the Lord of Hosts as he made the sun stand still for Joshua to give you the fullness of HIS DAY. Any closed doors captivating you lately? Well, the Lord Sabaoth can open doors for you, just as he opened the prison doors for Peter and Paul. Be a host for the Lord of Hosts, just as Hannah did, and the Lord put a baby in her arms. Fearing death, be anxious no more for the Lord of Hosts has power over death, seen in the raising of Lazarus. Oh, look to the Lord of Hosts, who has power “that in all things he might have the preeminence … whether there be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers … he is before all things” (Colossians 1:16-19). Give the Lord of Hosts the preeminence reserved for him, for he is worthy; love him, serve him, live for him, and remember “God is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God” (Psalm 68:35). Also, blessed be the one who hosts the Lord of Hosts.
