Gospel Fullness

Posted by Pastor Dave Johnson on January 22, 2022

Did you know that the Bible word GOSPEL means “good news?” And that good news is all about the Lord Jesus Christ with his desire for the news of his goodness to be written on the table of your heart (2 Corinthians 3:2), bringing the transformation of new life to your soul. Yes, a life changing gospel initiated by the Holy Spirit, bringing new life, being born-again of HIS Spirit, having become “new in Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:17). The Apostle Paul was called of God “to preach the gospel” ((1 Corinthians 1:17), and that “good news” was the “power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth” (Romans 1:16). The gospel of Christ was so powerful that it transformed Paul’s life, and has power to do the same in us. With God’s gospel power in him and on him, he desired to spread the good news to others, for them to possess the fullness of life that the Lord can give to man, being born-again of the Spirit of God (John 3:3). Fullness of life comes with belief in the FULLNESS OF THE GOSPEL: “The Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God” (Mark 1:1), is not of man, nor originating from man, but of God, with new life from HIM. Paul preached IT in its fullness: “I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house. Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:20-21). When preached it its fullness, and received in its fulness, new life comes IN man in with the miracle of new life in HIS FULLNESS.

Paul wrote to the believers in Rome, “I am SURE that when I come unto you, I shall come in the fullness of the gospel of Christ” (Romans 15:29). The Lord’s FULL Gospel, with nothing left out concerning HIS truth ALIVE, brings to the believer the spiritual opportunity to enjoy the powerful fullness of Christ, his person, with his life alive in the man changed by the Originator of that good news. So, what about Paul’s letter to the Romans: “I am sure to come unto you … in the fullness of the gospel of Christ?” He was letting the Roman believers know with certainty, that his life was transformed in Christ, and he desired to fellowship with them in the fullness of the life, found in the Spirit of our Living Lord. He was setting a precedent for the “how to” regarding fellowship in the “church of the living God” (1 Timothy 3:15). Therefore, if the gospel is not of man, but of God, so should be the fellowship be not of man, but of God in the house of LIVING GOD. Yes, fullness of HIS life deposited by His Spirit in your soul, by believing and now to BE LIVING the fullness of the gospel, nothing left out, with God’s SPIRITUAL power initiating His full intent of LIFE - with Biblical certainty. As Paul desired to fellowship with believers possessing the Spirit of Jesus Christ, so can we as well. We can “be sure to come” to the fellowship with the fullness of the gospel, with HIS SPIRIT giving us a fullness of life to be shared with our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Now, that’s GOOD NEWS for the Church of the Living God, to be ALIVE IN GOD, not full of self, but of HIS FULLNESS.
