God So Loved, God So Moved
Many are the divine attributes of our Lord regarding WHO HE IS, as he identifies himself with his own children. And many are the divine truths concerning the revelation of God, as the WORD unveils him to us, as his people. There is no truth more wonderful to resound in the ears of sinful man than the truth that man can be redeemed, all because “God so loved” and was so moved that “He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). There is no greater truth than “God is love” (I John 4:8), and that HIS love prompted the cross for our redemption. The Bible has always given us the message of how the Lord “so loved” that HE was “so moved.” “In his love and in his pity, he redeemed them, and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old” (Isaiah 63:9). Redemption will be the song of the blood bought believers gathered around the throne of the ONE who loved them SO: “And they sung a new song, saying thou art worthy for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood” (Revelation 5:9). Oh, let us not wait until eternity to sing of his redeeming love, because the Eternal One in his love LOVES US NOW, and forever will the Lord be “so moved” in showing us that he “so loved.”
God so loves his own and is so moved in his love that he does nothing except in the bounds of his sovereignty, inclusive of his love. Yes, every path, every plan and purposeful design for us is decreed and predestined by the directive reigns of his love. Why? The answer is as encouraging as WHO HE IS: “For God is love” (I John 4:8). The Lord, in his love has known, does know, and will forever know that the heart of man was created for that precious fellowship of love with HIM. He was then so moved that he deposited his love where it finds its rightful, created place - in redeemed man. Then, when the ONE who is ALWAYS so moved, because he so loved, the LOVING ONE then pours his love in us. There is no greater fellowship found that exists, other than that of the love relationship with HIM. No matter how challenging things are in life, no matter how difficult the path of testings and trials, no matter how discouraging the weariness of the way, God is providing the way with his so moving of his so loving us. But how is this possible? How does redeemed man “bring it on?” The answer: he doesn’t, but the Lord DOES. It’s all about the love that HE PROVIDES, in which to “walk in love AS Christ also hath loved us” (Ephesians 5:1). “We love him, because he first loved us” (I John 4:19). We love him with the love that he gives to us. As God is love (I John 4:8), HE lives in that divine attribute: He lives in WHO HE IS in his divine nature, and we can live in HIS love abiding in us. You see, he has made every born-again believer to be “partakers of the divine nature” fitted for that love (II Peter 1:4). May we all then to be so moved by his love for us that we will so love him SO, as he so loved, with the same love “because the love of God is shed abroad (poured into) our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us” (Romans 5:5).
